Our attitude and what we say influence how children view themselves. They will live up to expectations. Encourage them and they will feel positive. Discourage them and they will feel helpless. Ignore them and they will feel invisible. Respond only to unwanted action and they will continue that action. Children need to be acknowledged. If the only way to get attention or acknowledgement is to act out, then they will.
See each child as an individual. Believe in them. Believe in their ability to grow and learn. Our role is to empower them to show us that their potential may be far beyond what we expect.
